Reawakening Glasgow’s Wellspring

09.12.25

It was a pleasure to work with regular client Aproxima Arts on a major new chapter in their Glasgow Requiem programme. The Well reawakened the ancient 13th century well hidden within Glasgow Cathedral.

In October, the well was excavated for the first time in living memory, in preparation for the installation of a breathtaking and shimmering new mosaic artwork, the first of its kind to be installed within a historic well created by the Aproxima Collective and Joanna Kessel. Two sold-out concerts at the Cathedral - featuring new music by Karine Polwart, Claire M Singer and Cameron Sinclair - celebrated the rededication of the well.

We secured press coverage on BBC Scotland (TV /radio/ online), Front Row on BBC Radio 4, BBC Arts Mix, STV news, Go Radio, Glasgow Evening Times, Glasgow Live, The Herald, The List, The Scotsman, Daily Record and Classic FM.

Our role also included box office management for the two sold out concerts, along with content capture and editing for social media.

As part of Glasgow 850, the project shines new light on this sacred and spiritual site, celebrating the City’s 850th anniversary and its origin story. You can visit the wellspring during the cathedral’s opening hours.
