Cathy formed The Cogency in 1999 to create a company dedicated to arts and cultural marketing. She has planned and implemented the strategy for many of the company’s major projects and clients including 14-18 NOW, the UK’s arts programme for the First World War centenary, Manchester International Festival and Somerset House. Cathy was formerly Marketing Manager for international music company Serious (producers of River of Music, London 2012 Festival), where she managed the marketing and press for the range of the company’s projects, including the London Jazz Festival. Cathy started her career with the South Downs Conservation Trust as an Interpretation Officer before moving back to London to work in several roles, including Press Officer, for the London boroughs of Hammersmith & Fulham and Camden.
Janice has been with the company since its formation and became a share-holding Director in 2004. During that period she has led on many of the company's large-scale projects as well as acting as a strategic consultant to numerous arts organisations, including People’s Palace Projects, Greenwich Dance, outdoor arts consortia, Without Walls and theatre company Cheek by Jowl. She was previously Marketing Manager for Greenwich + Docklands International Festival, delivering marketing for a range of events including major outdoor concerts, site-specific theatre performances and mass-participation free events. Janice is also a Trustee of Mem Morrison Company and a qualified Yoga teacher.
Kathryn joined The Cogency in December 2015 and leads on strategy development and implementation of digital and social projects. Developing successful and engaging campaigns that are fully integrated into the full marketing, PR and Media strategy.
Previous experience includes developing integrated digital campaigns for a range of globally significant brands for arts and commercial clients including English National Opera, BBC, Somerset House, the Shangri-La Hotel at The Shard, Entertainment One, Worldpay and Berkeley Homes.
Alex joined The Cogency in July 2007 from the Communications team at LIFT where he worked on a variety of projects including Eat London, a large-scale event in Trafalgar Square. Since joining the company, he has worked on a range of campaigns, with a particular focus on tour marketing, music and visual art projects. Additionally Alex leads on all advertising and media planning for the company. Alex studied Fine Art at Kingston University and has an MA in Arts Management from Goldsmiths University of London.
Selina joined The Cogency in January 2011 as Marketing & Admin Assistant to provide essential support across all areas of the team’s work, and was promoted to Marketing Officer in 2013. Selina re-joined The Cogency as Marketing Manager for our major project: 14-18 NOW after working as Marketing Manager for Underbelly (delivering campaigns for festivals such as Edinburgh Fringe, Udderbelly and London Wonderground). Selina has a degree from De Montfort University in Arts Management and previously worked in the marketing team for arts festival, Cultural Exchanges in Leicester.
Wendy delivers financial support to the company. Wendy worked for Greenwich Dance for ten years, including four years as Business Manager. In addition to her administrative roles, Wendy is a dance artist, teacher and choreographer, having worked in a wide range of settings, including the Mass Movement team delivering the four Opening Ceremonies of the London 2012 Olympic Games.
Isobel joined The Cogency in October 2017 as Marketing Co-ordinator for our major project: 14-18 NOW. Previously, she worked as an Account Executive at Flint (delivering campaigns for large-scale arts festivals such as London’s Burning and Mayfair Art Weekend as well as working on retained clients across the arts & culture sector). She graduated from The University of Oxford with a degree in English Language and Literature.
Lauren supports the delivery of marketing campaigns across the company’s portfolio of clients and projects. Previously, she worked as an Account Executive at an integrated Marketing & PR agency. Lauren has varied experience of working in arts organisations, including the National Portrait Gallery, V&A, and Dulwich Picture Gallery. She graduated from UCL with a degree in History of Art and has an MA in Curating from The Courtauld Institute of Art.
Rebecca Woodham is our Office Administrator who keeps the office running smoothly. Rebecca’s previous roles have been providing senior management level support and project coordination at companies such as Universal, Nickelodeon and Abigail Ahern.
Having completed a Foundation in Art & Design, when she’s not busy administering you can find her being creative with a variety of materials.
Tank is a rescue French Bulldog. He does a great job of protecting us from serious threats such as the postman and squirrels, and loves nothing more than to lie down in a sunny spot and be made a fuss of.
