World Cities Culture Forum

In 2020, The Cogency delivered a marketing and communications review for World Cities Culture Forum a leading collaborative network of the world’s major creative cities led by Justine Simons, London’s Deputy Mayor for Culture. The review and subsequent strategy began pre-covid and was completed during the pandemic, requiring a substantial shift in emphasis to meet the changed circumstances that the organisation found itself in.

As part of the review, The Cogency conducted one-to-one interviews with key personnel and stakeholders of the network.

The audit included:

  • SWOT analysis of key issues facing the network with regard to communications and internal/external perception
  • Mapping target audiences and stakeholders
  • Defining value proposition and key messages, including more clarity on member benefits
  • Comparator review – advising on “quick wins” that WCCF could emulate for success
  • Review of existing marketing and communications infrastructure and activity
  • Recommendations for developing the website, social media activity, digital comms, PR and content creation
  • Advice on scope and requirements for an internal marketing and communications role

The Cogency then continued to work with and advise WCCF on delivering the recommendations from the audit into the post-covid era, including a particular focus on upgrading WCCF’s social channels, digital content, and approach to posting and messaging.
